The size of your boat along with wind and water conditions where you moor must be taken into account when selecting dock lines. We like 1/2" for most boats between 22' and 35'. Transient dock lines used as bow and stern lines should be about 2/3 of the boat's length. Spring lines should be about equal to the boat's length.
Avoid running your dock lines with sharp angles between the boat and the dock, and watch out for chafing!
