This is simply one of those "must have" pieces of hardware for the MacGregor 26M and 26X!
Have you ever been out sailing and decided it was time to get a cool one or snack down below? How about when "nature" calls and a visit to the head is required? Maybe just lying on the cockpit seat and taking in some sun?
It's kind of tough to accomplish these things if you are out by yourself or there isn't someone willing or able to take the helm.
Imagine self-steering for the MacGregor 26M and 26X for under $50.00!
We are pleased to offer our Pedestal Wheel Steering Brake Kit for the 26M and 26X and its in stock and ready to ship. The kit contains everything needed to get you up and going. Plus installation is a breeze. Just remove your wheel and black bezel (2 screws) and slide the supplied hardware over the wheel shaft. Replace the bezel and wheel and you're done.

Any Mac owner will instantly recognize this.
Its the MacGregor logo that is affixed to a black plexiglass oval and mounted on the port and starboard sides of the deck.
We think there are a ton of things you can use them for. Of course, the most obvious is to replace one that has been scratched or broken on your boat.
We got a little more creative though. One snowy day we decided to head down to one of the local hobby stores and purchased some nice routered pine and oak plaques. We brought them back and put several coats of polyurethane on them and then mounted the hull logo with a pair of nice brass screws. They came out fantastic!
We had them hanging all over the place. The problem is that we are now down to two because it seems everytime a visitor stops by and sees them they have to purchase one. Looks like its time to make up some more.
Home, boat or office....let your imagination run wild! Plus you can't beat the price.

This is probably the single most popular modification made to the MacGregor 26M and 26X.
The factory provides a typical small-boat halyard set-up as standard equipment. Both main and headsail halyards are terminated at the lower part of the mast where they are tied off on cleats. This arrangement has been around for years and works fine except that it does require you to leave the cockpit when raising and lowering your sails.
Sailing your Mac with the halyards led aft simply adds more enjoyment and safety to your on-the-water experience. Sails can now be raised and lowered directly from the cockpit making the rigging process quick while keeping everyone in the cockpit at the same time.
We have created a top quality package specifically designed for the MacGregor 26M and 26X. It features hardware from Garhauer Marine and includes everything required to run your main and jib halyards aft plus your centerboard line. A simple instruction sheet to walk you through the process is also provided.
Just a couple of notes:
You will need to replace your current main and jib halyards with ones longer in length. We have them available in our Sheets & Halyards page on this site.
Although not required, we strongly recommend adding sail slugs to your main sail if you haven't done so already. We have a very inexpensive kit available below.

One of the more classier upgrades you can make to your MacGregor 26M and X is the addition of a six spoke stainless steel destroyer wheel. We have never been thrilled with the standard 15" factory issue. Some folks love it, but we just like the look and feel of a larger wheel.
We offer two sizes. An 18" and a 20". Both sizes are fine for the 26X but we suggest the 18" for the 26M.
Installation is a simple affair. Simply remove the existing wheel via the center hub and replace it with your new one.

Built by Schmitt Marine, our 18" model features six spokes in highly polished stainless steel. It has a 10 degree dish and includes the black center cap as pictured. It will fit any standard 3/4" tapered diameter shaft and is easily installed on a MacGregor 26X or 26M.
The wheel is beautifully designed & constructed and will hold-up to the elements for years to come. It's no lightweight!
Want to kick things up a notch? We also offer two optional center caps: one in matching stainless steel and another in brownwood. Check our listings below.
We recently did some shopping on the internet and found the lowest price for this item was $95.00 plus shipping. Our price is the best on the net. Just $79.95! You simply won't be disappointed with this purchase.
Price: $79.95
Our 20" Destroyer Wheel has the exact same features as our 18" version except its just bigger.
We recommend the 18" or the 20" for the MacGregor 26X. For the M, we suggest the 18" due to the width of the cockpit.
One question we always get is which is the most popular? Well, that's pretty easy to answer. 100% of the wheels sold for the M are 18". For the X, two out of every three sold is the 20". I had the 20" on my X and boy did it look sharp and the steering was much more precise.
Again, we did some shopping on the internet and found the lowest price for this item was $115.00 plus shipping. Our price is just $89.95.

About as quick and inexpensive a modification you can make to your MacGregor 26X and 26M. These little babies are pretty much impossible to find unless you shop here.
All you have to do is perform a search on the www.macgregorsailors.com website to see how many owners have upgraded their factory issued pedestal wheel to the Schmitt 18" or 20" Destroyer Wheel.
The standard center cap (just like the factory wheel) is made of glossy, black plastic. It compliments the wheel nicely but many of us prefer an alternative. You now have the opportunity to upgrade or replace your cap with three different versions:
For those owners who need to replace their existing cap because it has been lost, cracked or broken; we offer the black replacement cap for just $6.95.
We also offer a center cap in beautifully polished stainless steel that will match your wheel perfectly for only $9.95.
And for those of us that would like a little touch of wood in the cockpit, we have a brown wood version for $17.95.

Finally! A spinnaker furling system that's easy to use and easy on your wallet!
We are pleased to offer the Chutescoop from the V.F. Shaw Company of Bowie, Maryland. Our version of the Chutescoop has been designed to handle both the factory issued and Kelly-Hanson C2000 cruising spinnakers without modifications of any kind!
The Chutescoop is constructed using white ripstop nylon and has a strong stainless steel ring sewn in a pocket at the bottom of the sleeve. A smooth dacron cloth facing covers the ring to provide a slippery surface to slide over the sail. The top of the sleeve tapers to enclose a specially designed pendant and swivel. Two small lines are attached to opposite sides of the bottom ring and passed through one large pocket on the outside of the sleeve to a block at the top of the sleeve. The two lines ensure a straight lift of the bottom of the sleeve. After passing through the block shive, the two lines exit the sleeve and are attached to a heavier line called the Control Halyard, which is used to to pull the sleeve up or down to open or furl the sail. The Control Halyard is also attached to a bridle on the bottom ring, thus forming an endless loop. The lines that operate the sleeve never come in contact with the sail as they are always on the outside of the sleeve.
All materials used in the construction are first quality and strong enough to allow reefing of the spinnaker if desired! The white cloth contains no dye so a wet sleeve cannot stain your sail. All sleeves contain a small strip of colored nylon dewn into the seam so you can tell if the sleeve is twisted.
The Chutescoop comes completely assembled and required only a few minutes to install on your sail.
One year money back gauaranty!

Most folks who have purchased Macs, either used or new, have the factory main sail with a bolt rope on the luff and foot.
We have had many requests to add "sail slugs" to the luff to make raising and lowering the sail more safe and easy. We checked around and could not believe what the lofts and some dealers were now charging for this service. $100.00, $125.00, $150.00!
Anyone can add slugs to their main. All you need is our hardware and about an hour.
Our package includes the sail track stop featured on the Hardware Aisle 2 page, sail shackles, slugs and a simple installation sheet.
This package has been time tested by many Mac owners over the years and installation is a pretty simple affair.
If you don't have the time, no problem. Simply send the sail to us and we will be more than happy to do the job!

Here is one of those pieces of hardware that makes itself right at home on the MacGregor 26M and 26X.
As we all know its pretty easy to open the sliding cabin hatch. Closing it can be a different story, especially if you are not paying attention.
There is no grab rail and closing the last few inches can be a real pain. Both literally and figuratively!
Our 12" polished stainless steel grab rail is a quick and inexpensive way to get rid of the "finger pinch". It is a breeze to install and all mounting hardware is included. In addition to the sliding hatch, we have also seen them mounted on the transom by the boarding ladder and on the bulkhead leading out of the cabin to the cockpit.
